The Center for a World in Balance is a global cooperative initiative that focuses on key interconnected problem areas our world faces and develops a common and coherent answer to these problems, through the effective promotion of human rights and environmental sustainability.

The various crises we are facing today - financial, economic, social, human rights, and environmental - cannot be tackled using mechanisms or institutions that allowed these crises to occur. We need a new set of values and new guiding principles that work for all of us.

The Center's core activities are rights-based, both substantive and procedural; they include the promotion of civil and political rights as well as economic, social and cultural rights while stressing their indivisibility. Its holistic approach acknowledges the inseparability of man and nature, our common humanity and the need to find a structural balance in the relations and activities of human life on a living planet. The Center aims to empower the public to think critically and to move beyond ignorance, malpractice and deception and into the realm of understanding, equality and respect.

A world in balance is a world where the economy serves the public interest, where people respect and care for each other and live in accordance with the natural environment.

The Center expresses this understanding in detail, and offers supporting documentation in easy-to-read electronic format to citizens worldwide.
